projects4Terrific Kids Program

Focus: Kindergarten through 6th grade

This is the largest Terrific Kids program in the world. Members of the committee present over 31,000 Terrific Kids awards each year. This program promotes self-esteem by encouraging and then rewarding good behavior with bumper stickers, pencils and bicycles. Kiwanians work closely with teachers who select Terrific Kids twice a month.

projects5Salvation Army Bell Ringing

The club has been “ringing the bell” for the Salvation Army at Christmas time since the early 1960’s.  We have had extraordinary success in the last few years while manning the kettle at the Cross Creek Mall.  We have been the top group in terms of money raised for the last four years running topping $3,500 each year!

Scholastic Achievement

Focus: Middle School students

The club encourages and rewards scholastic achievement. Club members present certificates and pins to students who earn top academic records. Each year, several scholars are asked to address the club at a regular meeting.

farm-cityFarm City Week

The Kiwanis Club of Fayetteville’s Farm City Week is an event by which the Kiwanis Club honors our agricultural community for their production of the most cost effective and safest food supply in the world.  Our annual luncheon is held on the Friday before Thanksgiving each year.

This event has been so well received by the entire agriculture community that presently we have the annual meeting at the Charlie Rose Agri-Expo Center to accommodate a larger audience.  The community leadership is recognized, recent nominees to the Cumberland County Agriculture Hall of Fame inducted, and door prizes of cakes, pies, hams and turkeys are given.  Special guests have included NC Commissioner of Agriculture, Jim Graham; Congressman Charlie Rose; Farmer’s Market Manager, Charlie Adams and National Agriculture Broadcast Hall of Fame member, Ray Wilkinson with his famous “Cecil & Leonard” stories.  This event honors our farmers and farm families for their work and commitment to feed our state, nation and the world!

Kiwanis Club of Fayetteville Endowment Fund

In 1999, the Kiwanis Club of Fayetteville undertook a long-lasting project that will help future generations of Kiwanians and Fayettevillians. The club began their own, local endowment fund. With the help of the Cumberland Community Foundation, the Board of Directors pushed to begin building a local fund called the “Kiwanis Club of Fayetteville Endowment Fund” that would grow as a result of the hard work and generosity of Fayetteville Kiwanians.

The goal is simple, to create a local foundation fund whose money will grow to create annual interest payments that will supplement the $100,000.00 a year that the Fayetteville Kiwanis Club raises and gives back to the community.”
